About me
Hi there! My name is Hazelyn and I'm a born and raised Floridian currently living in Atlanta, Georgia. I attended college at the University of Central Florida, receiving my Bachelor's degree in Biotechnology in May 2021. A few months later in August 2021, I started grad school for a Master's in Bioinformatics, which I did online at Johns Hopkins University. Three years later, I graduated with my Master's degree in August 2024.
With my Master's under my belt, the job hunt commenced. And as it did, I began to re-evaluate my interests and goals. With these meditations, my mind kept going back to writing. My favorite hobby for seven years had turned from some scribblings in an old journal to documents and stories hundreds of pages long. I knew there had to be a way to combine my academic knowledge with my love of writing. Enter in: technical writing.
Sounds perfect in every way, doesn't it? After a four month hiatus following completion of my Master's, I decided the best thing for me to do at the start of 2025 was to seriously pursue a career in technical writing. This first included taking a course about technical writing to become versed in the field and to explore where I want to take my career in the future. And now with the course nearly complete, I am happy to say that I have found fulfillment and satisfaction in the field of technical writing that is inspiring me to pursue it professionally.
All the while, outside of school and work, I enjoy exercising, trail running, reading, listening to music, and creative writing.
